The Polite Man in Water was a passenger.
RMS Titanic[]
After the sinking of the ship, the man was among the many other crew and passengers crying for help while swimming in the cold water of the Atlantic Ocean. When Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater were on a door from the ship, the man asked politely if he could get on for the sake of his life, Jack warned him that he would die if he got closer to Rose.
He later died from hypothermia along with almost all of the crew and passengers who tried to swim for survival.
